"In Sanskrit, Ketu has many meanings such as bright appearance, clearness, lamp, flame or torch. It is also the dragon's tail as in a meteor or comet. Often, cultures attribute falling stars to dragons coming to Earth. How many dragons have fallen to Earth and are still here? Which ones influence your most every choice? The reason for choosing this name is that Ketu also refers to red apparitions, which are a class of spirits. These apparitions are look just like flames. In fact a sacrificial fire is named after them. Relating to the name in Vedic Astrology there is a very interesting story about the demon Sainhikeya who sought to be immortal by drinking the Amrita or Soma Drink. Just as he attained it and put it to his lips Vishnu cut off his head. His body called Ketu died, but his head called Rahu lived on. These two are now outcast or rakshashas astral bodies living as one half dead and half immortal. Vedic Astrology is vastly interesting. I recommend its investigation." - Nielsen
